Your calico countenance
Brought a vivid image
Of a patchwork of autumn leaves
In the earthy quilt of Nature.

My little harlequin…

Your gentle nature
And endearing grace
Reminds me so
Of a soothing gale
That comes only between
The two extremes
Of a smothering summer
And a harsh winter.

So fragile...

Was it destiny?
Or tragic irony?
That you left us
In the season
You so embodied?

I grieve...

We had you for
A little over
One decade
And I wish
It were two.

You know that you were loved...

Against all logic

From the Forest of Solace

but doesn't that just make me the same
if everyone is being different?

written for the trapped, the stolen

this is not a eulogy
for all I left unsaid and all we sought and fought
this is not a Christian hymn
(I forsake that which has forsaken me)
this is not a victory cry
I said give me freedom or let me die
because I've got nothing left to lose
(and everything to gain)

I've been bought and branded
I've been sold and caged
I've been marked up, cut up and left for dead
I am torn up and enraged
(my sense of rejection is newly inflamed)
now I'm lost here on center stage
but somehow I'm left still standing

and extinguish those winking orbs
with the smoke of our murky breath.
let's drown our dreams
in vodka shots laced with disillusion
and hours later
vomit veracity to the pavement.

stagger through this acid trip of writhing flesh
in pursuit of that beautiful boy
who wants you
but never remembers your name.
swivel those sequin-studded hips a little, baby;
maybe he'll fuck you in the backseat,
licking alcoholic perfume from your lips,
his fingers destroying you piece by piece.
love is so overrated.

we're only young once,
so let's make a red plastic toast
to tylenol
